• Why we selected Dynegy?

  • Dynegy consistently offered the lowest rates across the FirstEnergy footprint. They own Davis Besse power station and other local generation which helps them to be more competitive in this area than some suppliers.

• Where did Energy Harbor go?

  • Energy Harbor was acquired by Vistra Corp last year, and as a result, customers in electric aggregation programs with Energy Harbor are transitioning to Dynegy Energy Services East, a brand within Vistra’s corporate family.

• Why have rates gotten so high in the past several months?

  • Rapid Thermal Generation Retirement

    • From 2010 to 2020, 95 GW of coal, 56 GW of natural gas, and 8 GW of nuclear capacity retired, which is 28%, 11%, and 7% of 2010 capacity, respectively. In 2024, operators plan to retire 5.2 GW of U.S. electric generating capacity.

  • Retirements are Greatly Outpacing New Gen Sources
